New awards for the Kennebec District -- ---new The Kennebec District has just been recognized by the National Association of Conservation District for our work on the KRI Action Plan as an example of regional conservation work. We have been invited as one of the three soil & water district presenters to the NACD national meeting in New Orleans in early February. Josh will present at their big do in the Big Easy. NACD has produced a collection of 25 swcd exemplary programs from across the country from which they picked three to come to New Orleans. That publication is available at the link below. Kennebec River Initiative -- Josh Platt will be attending the National Assoc. of Conservation District convention to present our experience with the KRI. Only three conservation districts from around the country have been selected to present this year. The convention is in New Orleans in early February. As of this time the Maine Dept. of Ag and the Kennebec District are working to fund his trip. As other sponsors assist us, we will acknowledge them here. The Kennebec River Council is formed to move the Action Plan priorities forward. The The new KRI Council has now met twice. Updates from the Council's meetings will be coming soon.
